Yeah, thats us. Lots of pride, the odd bit of passion - but not much in the way of success, to be honest.
THE CHARLTON ATHLETIC ROLL OF HONOUR
1947: We won the FA Cup. UP THE ADDICKS!
1990: We nearly won a seat on the local council. YAY!
One trophy, and nearly one seat on the chuffing council - in more than a hundred years. Is it any wonder that we are all constantly in and out of therapy?
Charlton beat Gillingham 3-0 at The Valley on Monday afternoon.
Charlton all but ensured their League One survival with a 3-0 win over Gillingham at The Valley on Monday.
The Gills profligate finishing aided the Addicks' cause, but Karl Robinson's side made the most of their chances.
Team wise, Chris Solly dropped out, Nathan Byrne dropped into the back-four, and Jordan Botaka came in on the right of midfield. Jake Forster-Caskey replaced Frederik Ulvestad, who dropped to the bench.
Charlton took the lead after 19 minutes. Ricky Holmes played Nathan Byrne in, whose shot was deflected behind.
From the resultant corner, Jason Pearce rose unopposed to head home the opener.
The Addicks doubled their lead just past the half-hour mark when Holmes rifled home a 30-yard free-kick.
The Gills should have halved the arrears soon after, but Cody Mcdonald miskicked when clear, and Joe Quigley's header from six yards also went wide.
Gillingham made two changes at the interval in an attempt to change the course of the game. Ady Pennock adopted a very attacking shape, and his side created plenty of chances, but failed to take advantage of them.
Charlton added a third nine minutes after the break. Holmes went on a mazy dribble across the edge of the box, and laid the ball off to Botaka.
The Congolese winger picked out Josh Magennis, who thundered the ball home.
Holmes, Forster-Caskey and Magennis all had chances, but the game finished 3-0.
The Addicks are nine points clear of 21st placed Port Vale. Though Vale still have three games to play, Charlton have a goal difference advantage of 27.
