ADDICKS START WITH A WIN

10-Jul 23:40, by Ketts

The Addicks cruised to a comfortable 5-0 win in Dublin on Monday evening.

Charlton beat Crumlin United 5-0 in the first game of their Irish tour.

Two goals from Tony Watt, an own goal from keeper Mickey Quinn, and strikes from Ricky Holmes and Josh Magennis were enough to give the Addicks a comfortable win in Dublin.

David Martin did not travel, and Jake Forster-Caskey and Mark Marshall were ruled out with knocks.

Karl Robinson fielded a different team in each half, and their were run outs for Ahmed Kashi, Naby Sarr and Cristian Ceballos.

Ceballos set up the first two goals with quality crosses from the left. The first was headed home by Watt, and the second was fumbled into his own goal by Crumlin keeper,  Quinn.‎

Watt notched the third when he robbed a defender, advanced into the area, and coolly slotted past Quinn.

Holmes suppled a smart finish to Joe Aribo's through ball, and second-half substitute, Josh‎ Magennis, powered in the fifth from ouside the area five minutes from time.

The game was just what Charlton needed from their first game, but they will face a considerably tougher challenge in Limerick on Tuesday evening.‎
