GREAT EXPECTATIONS

17-Jul 06:06, by Ketts

There should be an arrival or two at The Valley this week.

With two high profile departures at the weekend, Karl Robinson will be looking to bring some new faces in quickly.

The Ajose and Teixeira moves will give the Valley boss more room to manoeuvre in the transfer market.‎

He said after the Welling game that he wanted a right-back, a left-back, a winger and a striker. He omitted to say a keeper, possibly because there is already a deal agreed.

It would be no surprise if a keeper is the next arrival, with a loan deal being most likely.‎

England's Under-19 team beat Portugal 2-1 to win the European Championships on Saturday.

The team was captained by Jay Dasilva, and Robinson has made no secret of his desire to bring the Chelsea youngster back to the club.

Dasilva impressed in the left-back role at the end of last season, and he looks certain to come back to The Valley on a season long loan. The deal could go through this week. ‎

The Addicks play two more friendlies this week. They travel to National League Dover on Tuesday, and will face League Two Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium on Saturday.

Robinson's squad will then play two games against Championship sides, Norwich and Ipswich, at The Valley next week to conclude their pre-season preparations.

Though there is still work to do on the recruitment front, and there are players nursing knocks, there should soon be some clues about what Robinson regards as his first pick team.

The manager was his usual bubbly self on Saturday, and paid this tribute to the departing Jorge Teixeira after the Greenwich Borough game:

‎"Tex has moved away today, thereís a lot of change. ‎People will look at whatís gone on this year in the summer and I think theyíll appreciate that a lot of hard work has gone in to balance everything and try and move us forward.

"I want to put on record a thank you to Tex. Heís been fantastic to me in the way heís conducted himself. Iíll miss him around the training ground, heís an infectious character.†

"Heís got a decent contract, heís going back home to where his missus is from and it frees up things for us.

†‎"Itís not just about the football sometimes, itís about economics around certain moves. ‎I wish him all the luck in the world.†

"Youíre starting to see thereís a shift off the pitch and thereís a bit of a shift of the style on it as well. But thereís a long way to go.

†‎"At no stage do we ever talk about anyoneís wages individually Ė everyone is always documenting about this or about that and whether it is true or not true, Iím not going to elaborate or commit to anything. Heís away from the club now but heís been great for me."

After Teixeira's move, the focus will now shift to Cristian Ceballos and Naby Sarr. Robinson was non-committal on the duo's future on Saturday.‎†‎
