TIME TO DOUBLE UP

04-Sep 05:18, by Ketts

Charlton sealed back-to-back away wins for the first time in two-and-a-half years on Saturday.

The thrilling 4-3 win at Boundary Park on Saturday gave Charlton their first back-to-back away league win sequence since March 2015.‎

Back then, the Addicks followed up a 3-0 win at Blackpool, with a 2-1 victory at Cardiff.

Chris Eagles, Simon Church and Johann Berg Gudmundsson were on target at Blackpool. And strikes from Tony Watt and a Yoni Buyens penalty ‎sealed a dramatic win at Cardiff, where
Charlton were behind until late on.

The goals have been shared around again this season, with Patrick Bauer and Josh Magennis being on target at Rotherham, and Ricky Holmes, Tariqe Fosu, Billy Clarke and Joe Dodoo finding the net at Boundary Park.‎

‎There were a number of really good performances on Saturday, and the unity of the players was plain to see.

Karl Robinson has built a wonderful team spirit within the group, and after the game, Fosu explained how a team mate had influenced his goal celebration:‎

"It was amazing, a good feeling. It was my first goal (for Charlton), a first of many. Iím buzzing to be able to help the team win today.
"I was over the moon I scored and was able to help the team and I went for a knee slide (to celebrate).

"Iíve seen him (Johnnie Jackson) do it a few times so I thought Iíd copy him. Iíve got nothing planned for my next celebration, Iíll just see what comes," said the 21-year-old.

It is a long season, but the early signs are promising. The ability to string a few results together are the key to success.

Next up for the Addicks are two home games. Southend are the visitors at The Valley on Saturday, followed by Wigan three days later.

The Latics are amongst the favourites for automatic promotion, so the match will be a useful barometer to judge Charlton's progress by.
