MAGENNIS WON'T BE TAMING THE SHREWS

06-Sep 05:03, by Ketts

Josh Magennis looks set to miss another Addicks game.

Northern Ireland enjoyed the international weekend. Two Josh Magennis goals in San Marino helped the Ulsterman to a 3-0 win.

And on Monday they defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 at a noisy Windsor Park, to guarantee finishing at least‎ second in their group.

Michael O'Neill's side are unlikely to overhaul table-topping‎ Germany, but look certain to feature in the play-offs.

Eight of the nine runners-up in the European groups will contest the play-offs for a place in next summer's World Cup in Russia.

The play-off games will be played around the second weekend in November, meaning Magennis will miss Charlton's trip to Shrewsbury on Saturday 11 November.

Magennis is an integral part of the Northern Ireland team, and the focal point of the Addicks'‎ attack.

His absence will probably pave the way for Rangers loanee, Joe Dodoo, to start the game.‎

Magennis returns to The Valley to lead the attack against Southend on Saturday. Karl Robinson's team have two home matches in three days coming up.

Wigan visit The Valley next Tuesday and the boss will be hoping his team continue their impressive start to the campaign.
