HALLOWEEN DREAMS

09-Oct 06:07, by Ketts

The Addicks will play four games in October, and will hope to reap a rich harvest of points.

October is a significant month in the football calendar, especially for lower division clubs.

The league table becomes more meaningful, the clocks go back, the draw for the first round of the FA Cup is made, and the fixture list is a little less demanding before the busy schedule of the months ahead kicks in.

The Addicks for example are likely to play twice as many games in November as they will in October.  ‎

‎Charlton are currently in sixth place with a game in hand of most of the teams above them. Ominously though, Blackburn are just a point behind Karl Robinson's team with a game in hand.

Robinson now has two of his major summer signings‎ - Mark Marshall and Ben Reeves - available to bolster his squad.

Lack of senior strikers is tha main concern at The Valley. The Addicks are heavily reliant on Josh Magennis, who has two high intensity World Cup play-off games with Northern Ireland to negotiate next month.

Magennis was a minor doubt for Sunday's game against Norway, but appeared to come through the 90 minutes unscathed.

Robinson is looking to recruit a front man from the free agents market, but he really needs a player who is match sharp.

One of the players Charlton made a move for on deadline day - Preston's Eoin Doyle - has been in good form, notching six goals in his loan spell at Oldham thus far.

The South London Press has reported that Robinson is looking to recruit two strikers in January, one on a permanent deal and one on loan.

Until then, the manager may have to do with what he has, and hope Magennis stays fit.

The Addicks have four games to play before Halloween night, home clashes with Doncaster and AFC Wimbledon, and awkward looking trips to Oxford and Bradford.‎

Robinson will be looking for at least ten points from these fixtures.  ‎
