TIME TO DECIDE

11-Oct 10:10, by Ketts

Karl Robinson will soon have some tough decisions to make.

With Mark Marshall and Ben Reeves now fit, and Chris Solly also available again, Karl Robinson will soon have some difficult decisions to make.‎

Ezri Konsa had a fine game at right-back against Fleetwood, but the manager is a big fan of Solly's and recently paid him this tribute:

"Sometimes there is a calming influence that a captain can bring to the dressing room. That can also be conversations with players who he phones up on a Saturday night or Sunday when they have had a bad game.

ďI know people just look on the pitch but there is far more to being a captain than scoring a goal. Sols is a motivator among the group.†

"Heís someone who is very clear what he wants from people and demands your total dedication to the badge."

"When Jacko was captain there were moments he could do something magical, like scoring a last-minute goal. It would be a captainís performance. ‎

"Itís harder at right-back to do that, but Sols has equally big moments with tackles that donít overly get seen."‎

‎Naby Sarr's performance at Fleetwood was a real bonus for Robinson. Gone was the nervy, error prone player of two years ago, the Frenchman is now a powerful, commanding defender.

‎Like Jason Pearce, Sarr is left-footed and a natural replacement for him.

Tariqe Fosu's hat-trick grabbed all the headlines at Highbury, but he was originally bought as a squad player.

With Marshall chomping at the bit to start, Charlton's top scorer will be under pressure in the coming weeks.

Reeves was bought to play the number ten role. But Billy Clarke has been a revelation in the role and will‎†take some displacing.‎

‎Marshall and Clarke will probably need to start a game or two from the bench, but will then be pressing for a starting berth.

For the first time since he arrived at The Valley, Robinson will have real competition for places. It will give a headache, but it is the sort of dilemma managers love.
