ADDICKS SET FOR WINDFALL

09-Nov 03:50, by Ketts

FA Youth Cup news, plus details of a possible cash windfall for the club.

Charlton's Under-18 side eased past Brighton based Whitehawk in their opening match of the FA Youth Cup at Welling on Wednesday evening.‎

‎Two first half goals from Alfie Doughty put the Addicks in control at Park View Road. And the tie seemed to be over when Albie Morgan hit the third early in the second period, but Anesu Sisimayi pulled a goal back for the Hawks after 55 minutes.

Kareem Isiaka restored Charlton's three goal advantage midway through the half to complete‎ the 4-1 win.

The Addicks will make the long trek to Devon to face Exeter in the next round. ‎

The Daily Mail has reported that Charlton will receive a bonus payment of £250,000 if - as expected - Joe Gomez makes his full England debut against Germany or Brazil in the next few days.‎

The Catford born defender signed for Liverpool in June 2015 for an initial £3,500,000 plus various add ons. His full international debut will trigger one of those payments.

Gomez's preferred position is in the heart of the defence, but he is an accomplished right-back, and has appeared for both Charlton and Liverpool in the position.
