STRIKER ARRIVES

28-Nov 17:25, by Ketts

Charlton have completed the signing of Leon Best on a short term deal.

Charlton have completed the signing of Leon Best, and he looks set to play some part in the game with Peterborough this evening.

The 31-year-old Nottingham born striker is much travelled and was released by Ipswich in the summer.

Best fell out with Tractor Boys manager, Mick McCarthy, and was frozen out at Portman Road for most of last season.

He has plenty of experience, and has won seven full caps for the Republic of Ireland.

He has been training at Sparrows Lane for several weeks, and has impressed Karl Robinson, scoring a goal in the recent behind-closed-doors friendly with Queens Park Rangers.

Not a prolific scorer, Best is a useful focal point up front and will provide much needed back up to Josh Magennis.

Best's initial deal is until 27 January, but he will be hoping to do well enough to earn a longer contract.
