UP FOR THE CUP

02-Dec 05:52, by Ketts

AFC Wimbledon stand in the way of a possible glamour Third Round tie for the Addicks.

Karl Robinson is keen to get to the Third Round of the FA Cup and face one of the giants of the English game. Standing‎ in his way is a tricky tie at AFC Wimbledon.

Neal Ardley's side are not prolific scorers, but are difficult to break down. The Addicks play again just 48 hours later in the Checkatrade Trophy at Swansea, so Robinson will have to manage his squad carefully.‎

Player/coach, Johnnie Jackson, took Friday's press conference and had this to say about Sunday's game:

"I am sure the manager will be looking to make a few changes to freshen it up a little bit because of the amount of games that people have had to play and the injuries to the squad.‎

"He will have to carefully manage all that. We have another game Tuesday, two days later, which he will probably make 11 changes for, I am sure.‎

"The games are coming round so quickly, so we have to really be careful to manage everyone's load, and the minutes they are playing, but also put the best side we can out that can win a game of football.‎

"We have got plenty of quality in the building and people waiting for opportunities, so they will come now because of the amount of games we have got."‎

‎Players such as Josh Magennis and Ahmed Kashi may be given a breather, while the game is an ideal opportunity to give others - such as Joe Aribo - a start.

Chris Solly missed Tuesday's game against Peterborough and is a doubt for this game. Robinson may play safe in any case, while Jackson himself is a likely starter.

Charlton could look something like this:

Phillips; Dijksteel, Konsa, Sarr, Mascoll;‎ Aribo, Jackson, Marshall, Ahearne-Grant,  Dasilva; Best.

‎Subs: Amos, Cummings, Forster-Caskey, Holmes, Dodoo, Magennis, Hackett-Fairchild.

‎The referee will be James Linington from the Isle of Wight.

Given their injury situation, and impending busy Christmas schedule, the result neither manager will want is a draw. But it would be no surprise if the game goes to a replay at The Valley.
