AWAY WE GO

07-Dec 05:49, by Ketts

There are some tough away games for the Addicks this month.

Charlton will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their return to The Valley with a number of events prior to Saturday's game with Portsmouth.

There will be a crowd of over 15,000 in attendance, including nearly 4,000 Pompey fans,

The game itself will be tough, and the Addicks will face a severe examination of their promotion credentials on the road this month. ‎

‎Sandwiched either side of the Boxing Day trip to Southend, are visits to high flying Lancashire duo, Blackburn and Wigan.

After a sluggish start, Rovers are now in ominous form, and have not lost at Ewood Park since mid September.

Wigan made a brighter start and have been near the top for most of the season. Only Bradford City have taken maximum points from the DW Stadium.

The game will be played on a Friday night - 29 December - which will restict the number of visiting fans able to make the trip.‎

Charlton will need to ensure they take advantage of their home fixtures during this tricky period.

After Portsmouth, Blackpool will visit SE7 on the Saturday before Christmas, followed by Gillingham on New Year's Day.‎

Karl Robinson will, hopefully, have some of his injured players back to bolster his squad over the busy festive period. He will then look to strengthen during the January transfer window.‎
