HOLMES SET FOR BRAMALL LANE SWITCH?

07-Jan 06:27, by Ketts

There is speculation linking Ricky Holmes with a move away from The Valley.

It seems Ricky Holmes is once again being targeted by Championship newcomers Sheffield United.

The Blades had Holmes and Southend's Ryan Leonard at the top of their hit list in the summer, but failed to land either.

Holmes signed a new contract at The Valley, but that has not cooled the interest of Blades' boss, Chris Wilder.

Wilder was Holmes' boss when Northampton won promotion from League Two in 2015/16, and is a big fan of the winger.

In the summer, it was thought that Holmes did not want to uproot his family and move north. Whether the current uncertainty at the club has changed his mind remains to be seen.

Holmes has been a huge success since his switch to The Valley, though he has been below his best recently.

Wilder may use former MK Dons wide man Samir Carruthers as bait. Carruthers was one of Karl Robinson's star players at the Dons, but his move north has not worked out.

Any transfer - either in or out - at Charlton will be complicated by the ongoing takeover speculation.‎

‎Robinson is naturally unhappy about being unable to freshen up his squad, and it is believed he had a major falling out with owner, Roland Duchatelet, in the week.

All is far from well in SE7 right now, and it will impact on the Addicks' play-off bid.

An early resolution to the uncertainty is urgently needed, not least of all for Ricky Holmes.
