HOLMES GONE

12-Jan 22:08, by Ketts

Ricky Holmes looks to have played his last game for the Addicks.

Ricky Holmes was pictured in the hotel at the corner‎ of Sheffield United's ground prior to Friday's Steel City derby with Sheffield Wenesday.

Charlton are staying overnight in the Manchester area ahead of Saturday's clash with Bury, but it is difficult to see how Holmes can be in the right frame of mind to play in the game.

The 30-year-old was courted by the Blades in the summer, but opted to stay at The Valley. He agreed new terms and penned a three year deal.

Six months later, he appears to have had a change of heart. It seems certain that Holmes will sign a deal at Bramall Lane in the next few days.

Karl Robinson will want a replacement brought in quickly. Holmes is one of the Addicks' major players, albeit he has been below his best recently.

Whether Robinson is given funds to bolster his squad remains to be seen.‎

Meanwhile, Charlton will be looking for three points ‎at Bury on Saturday. The Shakers have lost their last seven games in all competitions, and have failed to score in the last six league games.

Robinson said at his press conference on Thursday that he only had 16 fit players. The Holmes situation appears to have further depleted his options.

But despite all his problems, Robinson will be confident his team can come away with all three points on Saturday.
