AJOSE AVAILABLE FOR ADDICKS AGAIN

01-Feb 11:38, by Ketts

Nicky Ajose has not gone out on another loan spell.

Charlton announced on Thursday morning that they had recalled‎ Nicky Ajose from his loan spell at Bury.

Ajose has been back training with the Addicks for a couple of weeks, but now the mechanism has been put in place for the Bury born striker to play for Charlton again.

Ajose signed for the Addicks in the summer of 2016, after scoring 24 goals in 38 league starts for Swindon in the 2015/16 season.

Despite struggling with the transition, Ajose notched 6 goals in 17 league starts during his time at The Valley.‎

He returned to the County Ground on loan last January, and scored 5 league goals from 15 starts.

He went back to his home town club on a season long loan during the summer, but the move has not worked out.

Ajose scored just1 goal in his 8 starts for Bury in League One. ‎

It was thought Ajose would go out on another loan stint, but he has reconciled his differences with Karl Robinson, and will stay at The Valley.

Here are Robinson's thoughts:

"He knocked on my door this week and said '‎Gaffer, I really want to stay. I want to fight for my placeí.

†All the things I asked him to do in the summer, and sometimes it takes a step backwards to really open up your eyes, heís certainly done and I respect what he said to me.

"Heís a goalscorer. Heíll come back, heíll fit in and when we need him heíll play. He was quite happy with what I felt was the situation with him.‎

"The way heís conducted himself has been impeccable in the last two weeks, so itís something that we decided to do.†

"It gives us more numbers, heís got a slight groin strain but heíll be back Monday training and once he is back itís another body that we can rely upon."‎

Ajose did not enjoy his spell at Gigg Lane, and is pleased to be back with his parent club:

"I'm delighted to be back. It's been a tough four months away . I've managed to come back and I'm looking forward to helping the rest of the squad to push to the end of the season.

"I've come back at a good time. A lot of quality has been added since the start of the season. I'm really looking forward to what's possible over the next four months,"‎ said Ajose.

He should be fit for the trip to Doncaster on Saturday week.
