PROMTION CRUCIAL TO RETAINING MIDFIELDER

06-Feb 11:26, by Ketts

An influential midfielder could be set to stay at The Valley.

Karl Robinson revealed in an interview with the South London Press that defensive midfielder, Ahmed Kashi, was looking to stay at The Valley.

The 29-year-old Algerian has made 29 starts for the Addicks this season and scored his first goal of the campaign on Saturday.

Kashi was thought likely to be joining former club Metz in the summer. Here is what Robinson said:‎

"He’s (Kashi's) not looking to leave, he said to me ‘gaffer – let’s get promoted, let’s push to try and achieve our goals and then we’ll have a chat in the summer’.‎"

"Obviously we’re in a predicament with the takeover situation. We’re not in a position to offer anything.‎

"It’s a very unique place to be. We can’t bring in permanent signings. It’s not an annoying thing, some people see it is as a positive in some ways.‎"

Promotion will play a crucial part in any negotiations. Kashi is unlikely to stay unless the Addicks can offer him Championship football.
